Adrian sprinted up the boarding stairs as the plane tilted.
“Give me Evelyn!”
Celeste clung to the doorway.
Metal screamed beneath the aircraft.
Evelyn broke free and jumped toward Adrian.
He caught her arm.
Luis and two agents pulled them onto the platform.
Celeste remained inside the doorway.
“Help me!” she screamed.
Adrian looked at the woman who had tried to murder him, kidnapped Milo’s father, and helped destroy an innocent family.
For one second, anger told him to walk away.
Then Milo’s voice echoed from below.
“The machine serves the life.”

He reached for Celeste.

“Why?”

“It’s safe.”
Adrian opened the back door.
“Then let’s go.”
“Where?”
