Chapter 10 - The Rebranding of Escalante Global

Back on the sixty-second floor of the Escalante Tower, the view was breathtaking, but Mariana’s focus was entirely fixed on the future.
The hostile dismantling of Vance Global Logistics was already complete. The physical warehouses, shipping containers, and vehicle fleets had been absorbed into Escalante Global’s logistics network, rebranded overnight, and stripped of any lingering association with the Vance name.
Victor Vance stepped into Mariana’s corner office, placing a thick dossier on her desk.
"The transition of the logistics subsidiaries is finalized, Madam Chairwoman," Victor reported professionally. "All former Vance employees who weren't complicit in Andrew's financial fraud have been rehired under standard Escalante contracts with increased benefits."
Mariana glanced up from her terminal, nodding approvingly. "Good. People shouldn't suffer just because they worked under a parasite."
"And regarding the assets seized from the Long Island estate?" Victor asked, tapping the corner of the folder. "The luxury cars, the custom art pieces, the jewelry collections Margaret tried to claim—what are your instructions?"
A faint, ironic smile touched the corners of Mariana’s lips. "Donate the cars and watches to the Manhattan charity auction fund we sponsor every year. As for Margaret's precious emerald necklace..." She opened her desk drawer, pulling out the small velvet box that had started the entire war. "Have it appraised, liquidated, and put the proceeds directly into the downtown women's shelter fund under an anonymous donor profile."
Victor laughed softly. "An anonymous donation from the woman who owns the building. Fitting."
"It's about closing loops, Victor," Mariana said, standing up and walking over to the glass wall to look down at the bustling streets of Manhattan. "For four years, they tried to make me feel small, invisible, and dependent. They thought luxury was something they doled out to me like scraps to a pet."

She turned back to face him, her eyes shining with absolute clarity.
"Now, every time they walk past a shelter funded by the very jewelry they accused me of stealing, they'll know exactly who holds the power."
